Jointsteel P
Galvanized steel waterstop, coated with adhesive butyl rubber, for waterproof sealing of horizontal construction joints

Drykos® Jointsteel P is a metallic waterstop system designed to ensure waterproof sealing of construction joints in water-impermeable reinforced concrete structures.
Drykos® Jointsteel P consists of a galvanized steel sheet, coated on both sides with special adhesive butyl rubber, protected by a release film that facilitates installation operations and ensures high adhesion to concrete.
The special flexible coating adheres intimately to the concrete, creating a continuous adhesive-type waterproof barrier that prevents water circulation along the joint.
The system is suitable for reliable sealing of construction joints and controlled cracking joints, both in cast-in-place concrete structures and in combination with precast panel walls, with reference to both horizontal joints between foundation slabs and retaining walls in elevation and vertical joints.
Drykos® Jointsteel P is also suitable for applications in the presence of pressurized water, ensuring hydraulic sealing of the joint up to a maximum persistent hydrostatic pressure of 2 bar, equivalent to approximately 20 m of water column.

Technical specifications
Packaging
Color
Steel.
Storage
12 months from production date.
Storage conditions
Store properly in the original packaging, sealed, intact, protected from moisture, frost, and direct sunlight exposure, at temperatures between +5°C and +30°C. At higher temperatures, the protective film may adhere excessively to the adhesive coating, causing difficulties in proper product installation.
Application data
Theoretical consumption
1 m per linear meter
Application temperatures (substrate and environment)
Minimum -10°C | Maximum +40°C
Application info
Substrate preparation
Adhesive surfaces must be clean and free of contaminants (dust, dirt, oils, or other agents) that could compromise the adhesion of the hydraulic sealing device.
Product preparation
Remove the lower protective film from the special adhesive gasket and position the Drykos® Jointsteel P joint sheet in line with the wall in elevation, placing it on top of the upper layer of reinforcement.
Application
Insert the fixing brackets by sliding them over the sheet, with a maximum spacing of 70 cm, and secure them to the upper reinforcement by tying with metal wire, ensuring system stability during casting phases.
At joints, sections of Drykos® Jointsteel P must overlap by at least 6 cm. To this end, fold back the upper protective film in the overlap area, join the adhesive surfaces by applying uniform pressure over the entire area, and secure the joint using one of the supplied joining clips.
At corners, the sheet must be shaped following the joint profile; it is recommended to perform the bending on a sharp edge to ensure continuity of waterproof sealing.
The embedment depth in concrete must be not less than 3 cm and not more than half the height of the sheet, equal to 8 cm for 160 mm height and 12 cm for 240 mm height.
Drykos® Jointsteel P must form a continuous circuit without discontinuities along the entire development of the joint.
The upper protective film must remain in position as long as possible and be removed only immediately before execution of the subsequent pour.
Other indications
- The waterstop should generally be positioned at the center of the construction joint or crack control section
- The embedment depth in concrete must be not less than 30 mm
- The minimum distance between waterstop and edge of the structural element must be at least 50 mm and in any case not less than three times the maximum aggregate size
- The waterstop must be secured to the reinforcement as it must not shift or float during casting
- For proper installation of the complete waterproofing system, refer to the Drybox System® Application Protocol
