Jointsteel BW
Galvanized steel waterstop with eyelets, coated with adhesive butyl rubber, for the watertight sealing of horizontal construction joints

Drykos® Jointsteel BW is a metal waterstop system designed to ensure the watertight sealing of construction joints in water-impermeable reinforced concrete structures.
Drykos® Jointsteel BW consists of a galvanized steel sheet, equipped with shaped and foldable eyelets, with a height of 150 mm and a thickness of 0.6 mm. The sheet is coated on both sides with a special adhesive butyl rubber, protected by a centrally pre-cut release film, which facilitates installation and ensures high adhesion to the concrete.
The special flexible coating adheres closely to the concrete, creating a continuous adhesive-type waterproof barrier that prevents water circulation along the joint.
The system is suitable for the reliable sealing of construction joints and controlled crack joints, both in cast-in-place concrete structures and in combination with precast wall elements, with particular reference to the horizontal joint between the foundation slab and the rising retaining walls.
Drykos® Jointsteel BW is also suitable for applications in the presence of pressurized water, guaranteeing the hydraulic seal of the joint up to a maximum persistent hydrostatic pressure of 2 bar, equivalent to approximately 20 m of water column.

Technical specifications
Packaging
Color
Steel.
Storage
12 months from production date.
Storage conditions
Store correctly in the original, sealed, and intact packaging, protected from moisture, frost, and direct sunlight, at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. At higher temperatures, the protective film may adhere excessively to the adhesive coating, causing difficulties in the correct installation of the product.
Application data
Theoretical consumption
1 m per linear meter
Application temperatures (substrate and environment)
Minimum -10 °C | Maximum +40 °C
Application info
Substrate preparation
Adhesive surfaces must be clean and free of contaminants (dust, dirt, oils, or other agents) that could compromise the adhesion of the hydraulic seal device.
Product preparation
Before installation, remove the protective film from the coated surface intended for the first pour, leaving the film in place on the opposite side. The protective film must be removed immediately before pouring to preserve the adhesive characteristics of the coating.
Application
Position Drykos® Jointsteel BW in line with the axis of the construction joint, particularly at the horizontal joint between the foundation slab and the rising wall, resting it on the upper reinforcement. Secure the sheet to the metal reinforcement by tying the eyelets or fixing brackets with wire, ensuring the stability of the system during the pouring phases.
Fixing must be carried out with a spacing of 30–40 cm using fixing brackets tied to the reinforcement.
At junction points, the sections of Drykos® Jointsteel BW must overlap by at least 5 cm. In the overlap area, remove the protective film, join the adhesive surfaces by applying uniform pressure over the entire area, and secure the junction using the specific Drykos® Fixing Clip.
At corner points, the sheet must be shaped following the course of the joint; it is recommended to perform the bending on a sharp edge to ensure the continuity of the waterproof seal. The embedding depth in the concrete must not be less than 3 cm and not more than 8 cm.
Drykos® Jointsteel BW must form a continuous circuit without discontinuities along the entire length of the joint.
The protective film on the side of the second pour must remain in place as long as possible and be removed only immediately before the execution of the subsequent pour.
Other indications
- The waterstop should generally be positioned in the center of the construction joint or the crack control section
- The embedding depth in the concrete must be no less than 30 mm
- The minimum distance between the waterstop and the edge of the structural element must be at least 50 mm and in any case no less than three times the maximum size of the aggregate
- The waterstop must be fixed to the reinforcement as it must not move or float during the pour
- For correct installation of the complete waterproofing system, refer to the Drybox System® Application Protocol
