Jointseal Tape RVX
Hydro-expansive waterstop joint based on polyethylene, butyl rubber, and polymer binders

Drykos® Jointseal Tape RVX is a preformed hydro-expansive waterstop joint, based on polyethylene, butyl rubber, resins, and elastomeric binders, designed for sealing construction details and small joints.
Its specific composition ensures high long-term stability, excellent mechanical resistance, and high elasticity. Upon contact with water, the material activates a gradual and controlled expansion process, capable of ensuring effective and permanent sealing even in the presence of hydrostatic pressure.
Drykos® Jointseal Tape RVX maintains its swelling capacity unaltered even after numerous hydration and dehydration cycles, adapting perfectly to confined spaces and guaranteeing the system’s tightness over time.
Thanks to its small cross-section and the flexibility of the material, it is particularly suitable as a safety waterstop in combination with Drykos® Jointsteel jointing systems, contributing to the overall reliability of the waterproofing system.
It is supplied with a rectangular cross-section of 18 × 5 mm in 15 m rolls.

Application
Drykos® Jointseal Tape RVX is primarily used as a complementary element in joint waterproofing systems, particularly in combination with Drykos® Jointsteel structural waterstops. The product can be easily positioned by simple insertion into the pre-arranged seats of the Drykos® Jointsteel system, where it functions as a secondary hydro-expansive barrier, increasing the safety of the hydraulic seal.
Alternatively, for sealing construction details or small passing bodies (steel, concrete, or PVC pipes), the bead must be applied directly to the substrate by bonding with a suitable adhesive such as Drykos® Jointseal T, ensuring perfect adhesion and system continuity.
The ends of the bead must be butted together for at least 5 cm (without overlapping) to ensure sealing continuity. Positioning must ensure adequate confinement by the concrete, with an indicative minimum coverage of at least 8 cm per side, to contain expansion and maximize the system’s effectiveness.
During the installation phase, it is necessary to avoid prolonged contact with water before casting to prevent premature expansion of the material.
Other indications
- However, it is recommended to carefully check the condition of the bead before pouring concrete in cases of: intense weather events with prolonged submersion of the material; exposure to atmospheric agents for several days before casting; environments characterized by high humidity, persistent fog, or stagnant water in direct contact with the bead
- Do not apply to structures immersed in water at the time of installation. Any free water present on the surface must be removed beforehand
- The product must not be used on surfaces heavily contaminated by aggressive substances such as acids or solvents. In such conditions, it is necessary to proceed with thorough cleaning of the substrate and evaluate application suitability in advance
- Do not install the bead in the absence of adequate confinement.
- It is not suitable for creating structural joints or expansion joints
- Reinforcement spacers must be placed at an adequate distance from the bead so as not to interfere with the correct expansion of the material
