Closed-cell expanded polyethylene compressible cord for joint filling
Drykos® Filtene is a closed-cell expanded polyethylene compressible cord, specifically designed for filling expansion, contraction, and control joints in building structures.
Inserting Drykos® Filtene into the joint allows for the correct definition and control of the joint depth before sealing with elastic waterproofing sealants, ensuring the proper geometry of the joint itself.
The product also performs an important elastic support function, reducing stresses caused by expansion and contraction movements on the joint walls and the sealant. In this way, it promotes the correct adhesion of the sealant exclusively to the side walls, preventing adhesion to the bottom and improving the elastic behavior of the system.
The use of Drykos® Filtene also contributes to reducing sealant consumption, optimizing costs and improving the durability of the intervention.
The product is available in various diameters, to be selected based on the width and depth of the joint to be sealed.

Storage
The product has no storage limitations if correctly stored.
Storage conditions
Store correctly in the original, sealed, intact packaging, protected from moisture, frost, and direct sunlight, preferably at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C.

Substrate preparation
Drykos® Filtene must have a diameter approximately 25% larger than the joint width. The substrate must be sound, stable, clean, compact, dry, free from chemical pollutants, as well as free of loose or detaching parts, dirt, oils, grease, or other contaminants that could compromise sealant adhesion. Joints must be previously cleaned and emptied of any trace of other material by vacuuming dust.
Application
Insert Drykos® Filtene into the joint by manual pressure or using a non-sharp tool, positioning it at the desired depth based on the thickness of the sealant to be applied.
Once the cord is positioned, proceed with sealing the joint using the chosen elastic sealant, following the instructions in the relevant product data sheet.
Cleaning of tools
Clean tools with water immediately after use.
Other indications
- Do not use as a structural element or standalone sealant
- Do not puncture, cut, or damage the cord during installation
- Use non-sharp tools for insertion into the joint
- Always select the correct diameter based on the joint section

Safety
The product is classified as an article and, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), does not require the preparation of a Safety Data Sheet. During handling and use, it is nonetheless recommended to use appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and protective goggles, and to comply with the safety procedures established at the workplace.
